Electronic structure and charge-density wave transition in monolayer VS2

چکیده

Vanadium disulfide (VS2) attracts elevated interests for its charge-density wave (CDW) phase transition, ferromagnetism, and catalytic reactivity, but the electronic structure of monolayer has not been well understood yet. Here we report synthesis epitaxial 1T VS2 on bilayer graphene grown by molecular-beam epitaxy (MBE). Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) measurements reveal that Fermi surface with six elliptical pockets centered at M points shows gap opening low temperature. Temperature-dependence size suggests existence CDW transition above room Our observations provide important evidence to understand strongly correlated electron physics related properties in two-dimensional transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs).

Charge density wave transition in single-layer titanium diselenide

A single molecular layer of titanium diselenide (TiSe2) is a promising material for advanced electronics beyond graphene-a strong focus of current research. Such molecular layers are at the quantum limit of device miniaturization and can show enhanced electronic effects not realizable in thick films. We show that single-layer TiSe2 exhibits a charge density wave (CDW) transition at critical tem...

Fast electronic resistance switching involving hidden charge density wave states

The functionality of computer memory elements is currently based on multi-stability, driven either by locally manipulating the density of electrons in transistors or by switching magnetic or ferroelectric order. Another possibility is switching between metallic and insulating phases by the motion of ions, but their speed is limited by slow nucleation and inhomogeneous percolative growth. Here w...

Thermal rounding of the charge-density-wave depinning transition.

The rounding of the charge density wave depinning transition by thermal noise is examined. Hops by localized modes over small barriers trigger “avalanches”, resulting in a creep velocity much larger than that expected from comparing thermal energies with typical barriers. For a field equal to the T = 0 depinning field, the creep velocity is predicted to have a power-law dependence on the temper...

Sn/Ge(111) surface charge-density-wave phase transition

Angle-resolved photoemission has been utilized to study the surface electronic structure of 1 / 3 monolayer of Sn on Ge(111) in both the room-temperature (sqrt[3]xsqrt[3] )R30 degrees phase and the low-temperature ( 3x3) charge-density-wave phase. The results reveal a gap opening around the ( 3x3) Brillouin zone boundary, suggesting a Peierls-like transition despite the well-documented lack of ...

Charge-density wave phase-slip in niobium triselenide : dislocations and the growth of an, electronic crystal

The analogy is explored between phase-slip in charge-density wave conductors, which brings about the growth and decay of an electronic crystal, and the processes of growth and plastic flow which occur in conventional crystals. The experimental data on NbSq are re-examined, and new measurements of the voltage Vps needed to produce phase-slip at a given rate presented. It is suggested that Vps is...
